Press Release: Hunt Ortmann Elevates JoLynn Pollard to Shareholder

Experienced Lawyer to Head-up Firm’s Burgeoning Employment and Insurance Practices

PASADENA, Calif. – Jan. 8, 2018 – Hunt Ortmann, a California law firm that has long focused on construction law and related litigation, has elevated JoLynn M. Pollard to shareholder. With 30 years of experience, most recently focused on employment and insurance matters, Pollard will also lead the firm’s practice in these areas, an expansion of its existing client offerings that recognizes the growing importance of a coordinated approach to the full complement of issues facing the construction and broader real estate industries.

“JoLynn’s elevation is well deserved, and she promises to be a strong advocate for clients facing issues that extend beyond the construction realm and into their day-to-day business operations,” said Omel Nieves, a senior shareholder and chief operating officer for Hunt Ortmann. “Her varied perspectives on these issues – whether on behalf of insurers or start-up companies – gives JoLynn a solid foundation to work from when guiding clients through the dynamic and multi-partied landscape inherent to construction and development projects.”

Pollard represents clients facing challenges involving insurance, environmental, construction defect, business and complex tort litigation. In her three decades of practice, she has played a key role in assisting insurers in all aspects of claims monitoring, underwriting issues, contribution matters between insurers, attorneys’ fee disputes, agency and broker issues, and bad faith lawsuits. Pollard has headed up litigation and alternative dispute resolution efforts related to mold and water intrusion, real estate and landlord/tenant disputes, and product liability claims.

Also active in counseling clients on business-related considerations, Pollard has assisted numerous growing businesses in corporate counseling and all manner of workforce-related issues, including HR policies and manuals, employment and business partner contracts, and IP protections.

Pollard is a member of the California State Bar and Los Angeles County Bar Association. She earned her J.D. from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, where she was an editor for the Pacific Law Journal and recipient of multiple scholarships. Pollard holds a B.A. from California State University, Northridge.
